Founded in 2007 and located in Westchester County, New York, Interfaith Prison Partnership is a community-based, interfaith non-profit organization that exists to increase awareness of the inherent value of incarcerated individuals, promote and provide for their welfare, and connect local communities with their neighbors behind bars.

Adopt a Prison Program

For many years IPP was a thought-leader, focused on consolidating ideas on prison reform and educating others about how to impact change. More recently, IPP developed the Adopt-a-Prison program, partnering directly with the Bedford Town Government, New York’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYS DOCCS) and the Correctional Facility Superintendents at the two NYS women’s prisons in Bedford Hills, NY. Our goal is to directly improve the lived experiences of the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and those working in the correction system. We do this through community engagement, creating connections between partners, and facilitating direct impact for the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated through our initiatives and events.

Ready to take action?

Because of the realities of the physical barriers that are intrinsic to the prison system, and in order to restore and maintain the humanity of everyone involved, IPP’s goal is to have those inside the correction system to feel less “out of sight, out of mind” and more seen, heard, valued and accepted. We are focused on the Prisons we have adopted, and hope to expand into other prisons, regions and states. If you’re interested in learning more about what we do and how you might impact change in your area, please contact us – we would love to connect with you.

It is said that no one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails.
A nation should not be judged on how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”
